ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a sustainability-focused ICT programme that builds on top of common SE curricula like SWEBOK and sustainability frameworks by Cai, Rusinko, and Mann. It observes across the past five years how the thesis topics as well as prevalent industry collaborations have slightly shifted but largely covered all pillars of sustainability. PERCCOM programme was built to be a two-year multi-national programme that is arranged in four separate semesters. Three semesters are used for education and one semester is dedicated for the master’s thesis work. Sustainable Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) programme will attract different types of applicants than the similar kind of a programme without the sustainability aspects. First of all, in ICT field the sustainable development attracts much more female students than traditional ICT programmes. Pervasive computing and communications for sustainable development is an Erasmus mundus master’s programme on sustainable development. The objective of this programme is to fill the gap between sustainable development challenges and education activities.
