ABSTRACT

The main strength consists in combination of their effort with partners allowing for testing produced novel materials and partners allowing their introducing into the technical applications. The Czech Technical University in Prague is one of the biggest, oldest technical universities in Europe. The hydrogen technologies fall primarily to the scope of energetics and transportation domains here. To get basic knowledge of PEM fuel cell characteristic, the demonstration laboratory equipped with two 1 kW commercial units was built in 2004–2005 on the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The team in Ostrava focused from the beginning to the implementation of PEM fuel cell stack into the energy-efficient vehicle designed for Shell Ecomarathon. The vehicle construction Hydrogenix started in 2004 on the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and continues up to now. The ASTRIS product, a marriage of the fuel cell stacks manufactured in the Czech facility, the balance-of-plant engineered and integrated by the parent company in Canada, was shown around the world.
