ABSTRACT

Due to the gradual reduction of the digital power supply digital LDOs have recently been introduced. Fully integrated inductive converters using integrated inductors show promise and can be designed to exploit the close proximity of the integrated environment. For capacitive converters, a unified framework for circuit design, recent programmable prototypes and some novel converters including flying domain and resonant mode converters are introduced. In the era of smart devices with ever-growing applications, efficient power management is important. And, in handheld devices, a battery is the only source of power. The center of the slide shows a teardown of a typical smart phone. Loaded with features such as camera modules, audio codecs, applications SOCs, memories, RF modules, and motions sensors, the battery occupies 30~40% by volume and weight. The thing to note is that, authors have a single battery to meet all applications’ requirements.
