ABSTRACT

Virtual campuses have generated a great impact not only at the educational level but also in the business environment, giving the opportunity to train any person anywhere, continuously and throughout life. These virtual environments should be flexible and open, and should focus on the needs of the student. The Moodle platform has many features, and its main advantage is that it is free and an open source software. This allows teachers to fully customize the system to give it the form and content to best achieve their goals in line with the characteristics of their students. MOOCs, in general, are excellent tools for disseminating research and knowledge generated in the universities themselves, establishing learning communities within them and even identifying people and institutions for future collaboration. These training trends could also be used to generate both initial and continuous teacher training processes.
