ABSTRACT

The Ultra Low power Management smartly manages the harvested energy, provided by the photovoltaic cell, and delivers a regulated power supply to the internal circuitry of the system on chip as soon as the amount of energy is enough to guarantee the active phase of the system. The increasing demand of Wireless Sensor Nodes which need to be capable to collecting and sharing data wirelessly while often positioned in places hard to be reached and serviced, motivates engineers to look for innovative solutions of energy harvesting and wireless power transfer to allow battery-free sensor nodes. The proposed System on Chip is self-powered radio frequency (RF) integrated circuits for energy harvesting and RF wireless power transfer. In battery powered devices a good achievable improvement is to null standby power consumption. To null standby power consumption in AC powered appliances is of great benefit to increase the overall energy efficiency of the electrical appliances.
