ABSTRACT

Many low power applications are closely related to the realm of the Internet of Things. A popular approach to measure the power consumption of a low power device or a low power component involves a power source, either in the form of a DC power supply or a battery. Coping with the dynamic range, fast changing current levels, gap-free recording and potentially battery emulation requires a quite sophisticated measurement systems and one has to be aware of its limitations. The seamless range change feature, allows changing the measurement range of the DC Power Analyzer between two consecutive sample points. Therefore, it is possible to characterize dynamic currents from the micro amp range up to the amp range with a bandwidth of 100 kHz. The device current waveform analyzer helps a lot to obtain current profiles of individual components like micro controllers, amplifiers or even to resistive RAM cells.
