ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the uses of Hall Effect sensors in the industry, with a focus on the automotive industry. As the Hall Effect sensors are used in various low-power applications in the industry and in the cars, an important temperature cycle will always be operating. It is important for the maximization of the Hall cells sensitivity, to have a good evaluation and optimization of the geometrical correction factor. To fully characterize the behaviour and performance of the integrated Hall cells, extensive measurements have been carried out. To this purpose, both AC and DC measurement setups have been developed. The chapter focuses on the power, power-related sensitivity and Hall voltage for several different Hall cells. For a batter control of the performance of Hall cells, an evaluation of the Hall mobility is required. The most important parameters of the Hall cells under discussion are computed through the developed three-dimensional model and also measured experimentally.
