ABSTRACT

The chapter is dedicated to social responsibility and its role in reaching sustainable development goals. It describes social responsibility of government, corporate social responsibility (CSR) as well as social responsibility of communities in reaching sustainable development goals. The Sustainable Development Goals is an intergovernmental initiative introduced in the Resolution of the United Nations General Assembly “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” and adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. Social dimension of sustainability in CSR standards was described by Szczuka. Social responsibility is widely discussed as corporate social responsibility being defined as “a fundamental concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns into their business operations and in their interactions with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis”.
