ABSTRACT

Authors are much more than molecules interacting with each other like falling domino pieces — our cells “chatter” with each other on the electromagnetic level. When they think of the term hormones, they should think in terms of two main concepts. This first concept is one of communication within cells. This intracellular communication is intimately dependent on the level of hormones that interact with the cell surface membrane and the interior of the cell itself. The second basic concept is homeostasis. Hormones arc responsible for integrating information between different organ systems, as well as maintaining the optimal function of these key glands and organs. Hormones evolved over a million years as a means of communication from cell to cell. In this fashion, they arc responsible for maintaining the balance between organ systems as diverse as the brain, immune system and gastrointestinal tract.
