ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a general overview of a wireless power transfer system using magnetic field and the application toon-line electric vehicles. The magnetic field shape design and shielding technologies are introduced and discussed. The simulation and measurement results supporting the design methods are explained. Since the invention of long-distance radio transmission by Guglielmo Marconi, the wireless telecommunication technology came to public and the wireless communication technologies rolled into our lifestyle. The wireless communication became a vital part of our everyday lives, and most modern people cannot even imagine a life without a cellular phone or a laptop computer. In the early 2000s again, the researches on wireless power transfer technologies became one of the hottest issues. As people want to pay more money for the convenience and safety, the necessity of wireless power transfer technology increased, and more engineers and scientists started to verify the mechanism and improved the technology for the application which end users finally want.
