ABSTRACT

The construction industry remains accident-prone and has earned a reputation as one of the most dangerous industries. This has severely impacted the productivity and efficiency of the industry. Although construction safety has been studied from various perspectives and diverse solutions provided, yet the study of construction safety through the lens of the construction workers is neglected. This study covers the gap by identifying the enablers of safety on construction sites and the safety on construction sites through the experience of the construction workers. The study adopted a quantitative approach to achieve its aim. The study findings include identifying technology and reward systems as safety enablers. Also, the study found a lack of compliance with adopting safety signs on construction sites. The chapter provides essential findings for construction industry stakeholders to achieve by understanding safety from the construction workers’ perspective. It also underscores the importance of technology adoption by the construction industry for safety enhancement, especially among construction site workers.
