ABSTRACT

In a continuously growing population, agricultural activity and related waste generation will also increase, with around 500 million tons of waste being generated every year in the sector. The search for innovative solutions for agri-food waste is mandatory, as a considerable share of this waste landfilled or incinerated. On the other hand, the construction sector is associated with severe environmental impacts, resulting from natural resources’ consumption and waste produced. Finding synergistic solutions between the two industrial sectors would reduce negative impacts, with environmental gains. The potential of using agri-food wastes in building materials has been further studied, some of which with improved durability, physical, and mechanical properties. This work aims at developing a literature survey synthesizing the relevant information on this subject.
