ABSTRACT

Leucas urticaefolia (Vahl) R.Br. ex Sm. is traditionally used for the treatment of various diseases. A few but remarkable compounds have been separated/ discovered by several researchers from the plant like alkaloids, diterpene, fatty acids, flavonoids, proteins, steroids, tannins and triterpenes. These drugs hold a good promise for managing ailments like Alzheimer’s disease; have various pharmacological effects like antihyperlipidemic activity, wound-healing activity, antimicrobial and antioxidant activity, and antinutritional property. This chapter reflects the information regarding different bioactives present in the plant and their pharmacological impact.
