ABSTRACT

In recent years, Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology has developed rapidly in the engineering architecture industry in China because of its great influence in enhancing efficiency and quality of design results. Under the trend of digitalization and informatization, landscape designers have also attempted to introduce landscape information modeling into their practical works. However, building BIM models in the landscape is relatively time-consuming and increases the designer's workload, preventing further application promotion. This paper collects problems landscape designers commonly encounter in using BIM software and then discovers, analyzes the reason, and provides plausible suggestions. It discovers that the problems are mainly caused by a combination of the drawing process, information format, and level of detail between professions. It summarises that standardization in the above aspects is necessary for the subsequent development of BIM in landscape architecture.
