ABSTRACT

The sewage-irrigated soil contaminated by heavy metals will not only have an adverse impact on agricultural plantation but also cause potential ecological and health risks through the whole food chain. Therefore, it is essential to evaluate the ecological and health risk caused by sewage irrigation. This book chapter systematically summarizes the development process, basic process, evaluation methods and models of ecological and health risk assessment of heavy metal-contaminated soils irrigated by sewage. The strategies and methods to prevent and control soil heavy metal pollution are constructed through scientific risk evaluation. This study lays the foundation for practical risk assessment work.
