ABSTRACT

Bionanotechnology, which has the potential to be a rapidly developing field of study with enormous potential in numerous sectors, is a promising and trustworthy method for the manipulation of matter at the atomic and molecular levels to create innovative materials with exceptionally diverse and distinctive features. It is a rapidly expanding area of research with significant potential in a number of sectors, ranging from physics and industry to medicine and forensic science. Nanotechnology has the potential to make a big difference in forensic science and criminal investigations. This review chapter discusses the different applications of nanotechnology in the realm of forensics. In forensic nanotechnology, tiny chip materials are employed in place of large instruments, which streamlines the study processes and results in investigations that are accurate, exact, timely, and suitable. This chapter intends to highlight many bionanotechnology-related forensic science applications such as DNA analysis, forensic toxicological analysis, explosive detection, fingerprint development and its analysis, various gunshot residue analyses, post-blast explosive residues analysis, and forensic questionable document analysis.
