ABSTRACT

Artificial intelligence (AI) and GIS technologies are recently emerging trends in healthcare. AI helps to forecast diseases patients for medical procedure. Its application in healthcare is extremely widespread, used by not only doctors but also patients, pharmaceutical companies, health services, insurance agencies and medical institutions. Health services, insurance agencies, and medical institutions can all benefit from industrial geography. By studying the spatial patterns of health facilities, understanding the distribution of medical resources, and analyzing the economic factors impacting healthcare delivery, industrial geography can provide valuable insights to these entities. It can help health services identify underserved areas, optimize resource allocation, and improve accessibility to medical facilities. Insurance agencies can leverage industrial geography to assess risk factors, develop pricing strategies, and identify areas with higher healthcare demands. Medical institutions can benefit from industrial geography by understanding market dynamics, identifying potential locations for expansion, and strategically planning their services to meet the needs of specific populations. AI helps in a wide range of practices: dermatology, echocardiography, neurology retinal screening, diagnostic processes, surgery, angiography etc. It provides user-friendly accessibility for both doctor and patients and prepares feedback to medical community for research. AI helps in monitoring, screening, and providing clinical and medical studies for patients. In this chapter an effort has been made to find out the uses of AI and GIS in healthcare services. Side-by-side emphasis has also been given on the uses of GIS and AI algorithms (such as, for example, GeoAI) and its limitations for the application of these technologies. These advances, which will be explained in what follows, will be throwing a new light on the healthcare-related services.
