ABSTRACT

The chapter characterizes the Fenton process. The conditions in which it must be conducted are presented. The reagents used are specified. The influence of reagent doses on the efficiency of the process is discussed. The most important chemical reactions taking place and the most important factors limiting the possibility of using the process are presented. The advantages and disadvantages of the process and its modifications including the additional use of other homo and heterogeneous catalysts, light, and electric current, aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing the impact of factors reducing the efficiency of the process, are presented.
