ABSTRACT

Conservation Agriculture is soil management practice that proposes sowing of crops with minimum soil disturbance by direct seeding, maintenance of permanent soil cover with organic mulch and crop rotations which helps in reducing soil degradation and minimizing water pollutions. Change in tillage practice from conventional tillage to conservation agriculture method may have an impact on soil properties and nutrient dynamics. Integrated nutrient management considers combining of nutrients from different sources for sustaining crop yield. Legume has great importance in nutrient acquisition and in sustains soil fertility. Some workers reported that benefit of yield increase to crops following field pea may be due to mineralization of nitrogen from residues of field pea. Green manuring increases crop yield and at the same time improves soil fertility also. Selection of crop rotation in a cropping system for an agro ecological region is an important strategy for conservation of nutrients and improving nutrient use efficiency.
