ABSTRACT

Adsorption, a surface phenomenon, has been a well-studied area of scientific research since its innovation because of its different applications in various environmental as well as industrial processes. Mathematical modeling is the next step after experimental findings of adsorption processes. Extensive work has been done on the development of these adsorption models to understand the underlying physical and chemical processes of the adsorption system. In this chapter, the mathematical aspect of the adsorption process i.e., adsorption kinetics and isotherms will be enlightened in detail. There are several models available in the literature. Some of the most reported models and isotherms relevant to adsorption literature are discussed precisely like Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption isotherm, pseudo-first and second-order kinetics models, and many more.
