ABSTRACT

The world has been facing complex crises for more than a year due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). This chapter surveys about the effectiveness of edge computing and artificial intelligence in the Internet of Medical Things (IIoT) to meet all the health service requirements in such an emergency situations. Since critical decision making is an important concern of an IoMT architecture which is responsible for the life of patients, artificial intelligence techniques are employed in such real-time models. Rather than computational speed and decision making in a healthcare server network load and latency can also contribute to the degradation of Quality of Service (QoS) of a healthcare 100system. To optimize the latency and network load edge computing is employed thereby improving the availability of the system.
