ABSTRACT

Nutrigenomics is a broad field of science that focuses on the interaction between genes and the activity of common dietary nutrients, as well as their function in achieving a balance between disease and health by altering the structure or expression of a person’s genetic composition. Nutrigenomics is a field that uses postgenomic and related technologies to study an individual 370organism’s reaction to food contents. Nutrigenomics is an area that requires more rigorous investigation and evaluation, and it can be thought of as a new tool for nutrition research in understanding concerns related to animal production and health. Even while more research is being done, public awareness is not being raised to the point where science can be used to its full potential. As a result, efforts must be made to investigate the existing state of knowledge, practices, and abilities linked to the use of nutrigenomics to improve animal health and production. So, the purpose of this chapter is to explore the importance of nutrigenomics, how it works, and what its applications are in the animal sciences field.
