ABSTRACT

Remote work has gained dramatically colossal importance in recent times. This is very likely not a temporary phenomenon. There is much to suggest that we will have to get used to the new reality. Remote work will likely remain a significant aspect of the working world in the coming years. This creates new challenges in the workplace. Managers who used to look over the shoulders of their subordinates are now asking themselves: How can I lead a remote team so that everyone involved is committed?

The first part of this chapter aims to shed some light on the situation in a more differentiated way. Then the author presents five propositions about the future of remote work. In the concluding part, the reader will learn several tips on how to make remote collaboration more enjoyable and productive.
