ABSTRACT

Healthcare is a multidisciplinary term, which refers to a system that involves the development of health services to satisfy people’s medical needs. Over the past years, healthcare analysis processed various types of diseases including diabetic retinopathy, cancers, Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular diseases, vascular dementia, chronic disease, osteoporosis, heart disease, strokes, and epilepsy, to mention just a few, using artificial intelligence. Nowadays, artificial intelligence proposes various solutions in several fields such as marketing and profit analysis, financial services, healthcare, and others. By applying artificial intelligence in healthcare, machines can be a lifesaver. In healthcare, machines play an essential role in disease identification and diagnosis. Artificial intelligence offers many solutions to healthcare using deep learning, artificial neural networks, and machine learning techniques. In this chapter, we review papers that utilize artificial intelligence in healthcare applications to provide better solutions. Furthermore, we concentrate on which type of artificial intelligence techniques we can use for which type of problems people usually face in the healthcare field. Readers and investigators can benefit from this chapter by understanding the applications, roles, challenges, and 48future perspectives of artificial intelligence for healthcare services, especially for disease prediction and diagnosis.
