ABSTRACT

With the growth of the world population, the concern of authorities and scientists about the demand for food is understandable; in addition, with the concern for health when consuming safe food, the demand for healthier products considered environmentally friendly is becoming a reality. Agrochemicals can leave some residues in nature that may be unsafe for animals and humans, hence techniques that aim to improve the delivery system in plants have become a reality. Nanotechnology emerges as a promising science to accomplish this objective. Nanomaterials that can be used as nanocarriers may be of artificial or natural origin or even composites. In this book chapter, we aim to discuss such nanomaterials and their uses, focusing on natural materials. Moreover, we have discussed its origin, application as well as possible effects on improving the health of plants and agricultural crops.
