ABSTRACT
Construction sites are dangerous places. Every year, thousands of workers are injured or killed on the job. Many of these accidents could be prevented if workers were wearing the proper safety gear and staying within the safety regions. Object detection artificial intelligence (AI) can help increase safety at construction sites by classifying uniforms and determining if workers are using proper safety gear. The proposed model will also be able to identify workers who are not wearing any safety gear and flag them for safety violations. In addition, the model can be used to monitor workers and make sure they are staying within the safety regions. If a worker strays outside of the safety region, the model can detect this violation and send an alert to the site manager. This chapter will discuss the potential of using the object detection AI model to improve safety at construction sites. This chapter will discuss the benefits of using the AI model and how it can be used to prevent accidents.
