ABSTRACT
Roy developed the ELimination Et Choice Translating REality (ELECTRE) method, which is based on multi-attribute utility theory, with the goal of increasing efficiency while taking into account less information. The initial version of ELECTRE method for selecting the optimal alternative from a list of candidate choices, was proposed in 1965. Material handling is defined as an activity that employs suitable technique to deliver the appropriate amount of material at the proper time, in the correct sequence, at the intended location, with minimum cost involvement. The role of a material handling equipment in the manufacturing industry is critical. An efficient material handling equipment improves competitiveness of a manufacturing organization while reducing handling cost, and enhancing the manufacturing process by increasing production and system flexibility.
