ABSTRACT

The Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE) technique is a well-accepted MCDM tool being augmented to solve various complex engineering and managerial decision-making problems. Each criterion used within a PROMETHEE model to help rank alternatives is assigned a preference function by the decision maker. The preference function translates the difference in the value of a criterion between two alternatives in a pair-wise comparison into a preference degree in a range from 0 to 1. The geometrical analysis for interactive aid is developed as an extension of PROMETHEE method, which would act as a visual decision aid to the decision maker to arrive at the most accurate and viable selection decision. The non-traditional machining methods belong to a group of machining processes where the main purpose is to remove material from the workpiece surface using direct energy sources in the form of thermal, mechanical, chemical, electrical, or a combination of them.
