ABSTRACT

The evaluation based on the distance from average solution (EDAS) method is a new distance-based measurement approach, contemporary to other recently developed MCDM methods. The TOPSIS method identifies the best solution which is closest to the positive-ideal solution and farthest from the negative-ideal solution. The mathematical modeling of EDAS method is slightly different from that of TOPSIS as it is based on the distances from the average solution rather than positive- and negative-ideal solutions. Selection of the most appropriate cutting tool while machining a given workpiece material is deemed to be a crucial task in the manufacturing environment as it directly affects the achievable machining efficiency and surface finish of the machined component.
