ABSTRACT

The multi-attributive border approximation area comparison method is a recently developed MCDM tool, and has already been well accepted due to its computational simplicity and robustness. In this method, the performance of each criterion function is partitioned into two specific areas, i.e., upper approximation area consisting of the ideal alternatives and lower approximation area with the anti-ideal alternatives. It evaluates the corresponding strengths and weaknesses of each alternative over its competitors with reference to each criterion under consideration. In a welding process, different consumables, like filler alloy, electrode material and shielding gas play important roles while providing good weld quality. The choice of the appropriate filler alloy would determine the transverse and longitudinal strength of the weld joint.
