ABSTRACT

TOPSIS identifies the most preferred solution, which would be nearest to the positive-ideal solution and farthest from the negative ideal solution. Keeping in mind the disadvantage of TOPSIS, the MAIRCA method was developed in 2014 at the University of Defense in Belgrade. Chatterjee & Chakraborty solved a piston material selection problem consisting of eight candidate alternatives and eight evaluation criteria using MAIRCA method. The criteria weights were determined using entropy method, and AISI 4140 steel was identified as the most appropriate material, followed by AISI 8660 steel. Following the procedural steps of MAIRCA method, the elements of the theoretical evaluation matrix are first computed while multiplying the preferences of the alternatives by the corresponding criteria weights.
