ABSTRACT

Gender refers to the social, psychological, and cultural constituents of a person. A child’s behavior and others toward him is a composite combination of its responses and the parent’s reflection of what that child is, a large element of which may be to do with a gender-awarded approach endorsed by the culture and the parents’ individual gender role concepts. Almost universally, societies necessitate adult males and females to different variety of roles, and the parents nurture their children differently to preserve the social construct they also pursue, to avoid the condemnation of gender inappropriateness. There is a usual inclination of parents, to bring up their son as masculine and competent, to accomplish masculine jobs, and on the contrary, female roles are passive.

The following chapter will discuss the role of gender-typed parenting and the progress of the gender role in children through the guidance of parents – in light of the theoretical basis of the gender gap and its consequences. It may be easily assumed that parents who follow the Democratic style will encourage the development of egalitarian sex roles in their children, while an authoritarian father, in all probability, guides 42the development of his child by following traditional male-dominated sex roles.
