ABSTRACT

The advancement in information technology results in both positive and negative impacts in different areas. Among others, one of the negative consequences involves cyberbullying, resulting in cybervictimization, which leads to psychological disorders. This chapter focuses on a framework of cybervictimization and its potential consequences leading to post-traumatic depreciation (PTD) in gender roles. A theoretical model was formulated to study the impact of cyberbullying victimization on the university students that leads to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Gender was studied as the moderator and PTSD as a potential mediator. 136Purposely, a pilot test was conducted, and data was collected from 62 university students through an online survey and then analysis for model suitability for further research was conducted. This study expands the existing literature of cyberbullying domain and helps policymakers to introduce student guidelines for protecting them from becoming a victim of cyberbullying. Furthermore, educational institutions and other organizations can introduce sessions for the rehabilitation of victims using the findings of this study and future research can be conducted through directions provided at the end of the chapter.
