ABSTRACT

Drowsiness comes between the state of being fully awake and being asleep. Drowsiness might not be a problem in office or a class, but when it comes to driving it is a life-endangering problem. Drivers need some kind of alerting system to overcome the problem. Alerting systems would help the driver to regain their normal state of alertness. These systems keep an eye on the driver's performance and alert them if they exhibit signs of drowsiness. Different solutions, such as Electroencephalogram (EEG), Electrocardiogram (ECG), Respiratory Signal analysis and Heart Rate Variability (HRV), have been proposed for this issue, but these methods become a little complicated since these solutions require drivers to wear some equipment while driving, making the whole system cumbersome since any driver has to be comfortable while driving. These problems can be overcome by considering eye-monitoring software. This is incorporated into a piece of hardware which can be installed within the car. When the software detects the conditions of the driver’s eyes, the particular hardware inside the car would alert the driver.
