ABSTRACT

Irrigation water consumption accounts for about 60% of the total water consumption in the Pearl River Basin. The unit water consumption for farmland irrigation is 10170 m3/hm2, 91% higher than the national level of 5325 m3/hm2. It is an important basis for confirming the initial water right of water intake in the irrigation area, ensuring reasonable agricultural water demand, strengthening agricultural water management, and implementing the strictest water resources management system to analyze and demonstrate the rationality of the Pearl River Basin irrigation water intake. Taking the Doumen irrigation area of the Pearl River Basin as an example, this paper analyzes and demonstrates the water intake and consumption, water source, and influence of water withdrawal, so as to provide the basis for the approval of a water intake permit in this irrigation area.
