ABSTRACT

The study aims to carry out in-depth research on seismic fragility and realize the performance-based seismic design (PBSD) of continuous girder bridges. For this, the influence of the correlation between uncertain factors on a single component of a bridge and the correlation of failure modes of each component on the vulnerability of the bridge system have been studied. First, the application situation, correlation research method, and damage quantification index of three kinds of uncertainties in the fragility study of a continuous beam bridge are proved. Second, based on the comparison of various research methods, an applicable method for quantifying the two types of correlations is proposed. Finally, the problems to be solved in the study of bridge vulnerability and the development trend are pointed out.

The results show that the seismic fragility analysis method of continuous beam bridge proposed in this paper can not only consider the influence of various uncertainties on the vulnerability of the components but also reasonably quantify the two kinds of correlation problems to carry out the research on the fragility of the system. The study is of great significance for the development of a performance-based seismic design and practical engineering application on continuous beam bridges.
