ABSTRACT

The vast majority of today’s software and services, especially those used in the medical, transportation, and monetary sectors, rely on data collected by sophisticated machine learning algorithms powered by artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence has been making progress in every sphere of life, and its impact on the globe is predicted to be greater than any other event in human history. The lack of transparency and provenance that comes with centralized data processing and administration may make it difficult to win consumers’ confidence and fulfil the GDPR. With FL, service providers can implement certain types of machine learning algorithms into their applications and services without collecting any personally identifiable information from their customers, which may make it easier for them to fulfill data protection regulations like the GDPR. The innovative field of machine learning allows machines to do tasks without being explicitly programmed, allowing them to learn and improve through experience.
