ABSTRACT

In recent times, the Internet of Things (IoT) has gained popularity due to massive data processing collected through various sensors and numerous services provided. Various communities like governmental, academic, and healthcare are paying a great deal of attention to the creation of smart sensory media and gadgets. IoT powered systems acquire information through various sensor devices and make healthcare services easier. Due to the advancement of healthcare services, the need for processing the sensor data that are collected from the patients has grown remarkably. The integration of IoT in healthcare enabled various artificial intelligence (AI) techniques together with deep learning approaches to offer enormous opportunities like diagnosing various diseases, augmenting clinical workflow, and optimizing various hospital activities. The future of IoT and AI working together to monitor patient's vital parameters and to analyze in smart healthcare systems is promising. Big data, cloud computing, and other novel communication technologies all contributed to the development of the idea of the smart healthcare system. This chapter presents a detailed survey on IoT architecture in healthcare systems, technologies adopted, challenges, and applications.
