ABSTRACT

Ethics is the set of principles that are designed and designated for any activity that is performed by an individual, in various fields. Ethics constitute to the moral values and guidelines that are ensured to be followed by the individuals. Ethics are followed in all the fields like law, education, society, religion, knowledge transfer, etc. In this era of artificial intelligence and machine learning, data collection is the primary requirement to perform any kind of predictions or analysis. If the research pertains to general forecasts of weather, cricket, stock market, etc., then the risks of security breach are less because the data don't correspond to any single person, but ethics plays an important role in data gathering in all segments of medical research. Confidentiality of the data gathered for the research is a critical task; hence, there are certain ethics to be followed in using the medical data like privacy, confidentiality, purpose, need, ownership, etc. Violation of ethics in medical data usage may be cause to sue the person/organization. In this chapter, we will discuss ethical issues when using medical data and how to overcome them.
