ABSTRACT

Role of Technology is playing a vital role in the current scenario. People may now interact with social media on cellphones and laptops thanks to technological improvements. On the dark side, strangers making threats, bullying, harassing, and stalking others online are the most commonly reported and seen crimes, especially against women on social media. Any criminal behaviour involving a computer, a networked device, or a network is considered cybercrime. Cyber-stalking, cyber-defamation, cyber-sex, dissemination of obscene material, and trespassing into one’s private domain are all crimes that are specifically targeted at women. This type of crime induces the women to take the wrong decision ‘suicide’. It is also possible to attribute the main cause of the rise in cybercrimes against women in India to a lack of legal protection. Making strict laws is urgently necessary, and their proper application must also be guaranteed. The main objective of the paper is to study the cyber problems against women and the legal measures available to protect them. The target for the study is 200 women between the ages of 10 to 30. But 132 were only able to complete the questionnaire becomes a sample size. A convenient sampling method is used; due to the large population and being a sensitive issue, some are not willing to reveal their opinion. The Likert 5-point scale is used to measure the responses. The percentage analysis method and Ranking method is used as statistical tool for the analysis. The legal measures information are taken from the cyber law and Information Technology Act 2000. The result of the study shows that it creates some awareness about the legal measures to protect women. Women should be more courageous and self-disciplined to lead happy life.
