ABSTRACT

Nanomaterials have a broad application in nutraceuticals and food industries in a variety of ways, including enhancing the solubility, bioavailability of ingredients, targeted delivery of ingredients, extending the shelf-life of foods, and improved pharmacological activity. Nutraceuticals and food industries are embracing nanotechnology as a revolutionary new technology. By giving nanoparticles new properties, nanotechnology has created new opportunities for the manufacture of nutraceuticals, and the food industry. As nanotechnology develops as a revolutionary field, there is primary concern is the lack of knowledge regarding the effects and impacts of nanomaterials on human health and the environment. The use of nanotechnology in the food industry has raised several issues. These potential issues include the effects of nanoparticles on human health and the possible contamination of soil and water from nanomaterials. Along with these risks, it's essential to talk about the ethical concerns, governmental regulations, and policy implications of using nanotechnology in the nutraceuticals or food industries. This chapter discusses the potential applications, risks, food safety, and current regulatory situation of nanotechnology in relation to nutraceuticals and the food industry.
