ABSTRACT

This chapter examines Australia’s position in the field of robotic developments. Although leading in technological development, the country’s robotics ecosystem is fragmented, and the commercial application of new technologies lags. The author discusses the challenges of adopting and commercialising cutting-edge technology in Australia, in light of current capabilities and in comparison to other nations leading in robotics. The chapter also addresses the implications of automation on the future of workplaces, Australia’s economy, and ecology.
