ABSTRACT

Earth’s human population is growing more quickly, and it is predicted that it will soon surpass eight billion people. Therefore, feeding such a large population is a significant task; also, a number of other issues like poor infrastructure and poor transportation result in food waste. Additionally, food quality suffers due to microbial infestation. To overcome the food crisis, a considerable increase in food crop output together with effective management of food waste is crucial. In this regard, it is anticipated that nanotechnological solutions would be revolutionary as far as numerous challenges of the food industries are concerned given the extensive spectrum of applications of nanotechnology and nanomaterials in various sectors, including food sciences. In light of these facts, we have summarised the synthesis of various nanomaterials using various microorganisms in this chapter. We have also discussed recent advancements in the field of nanotechnology and its application to the food industry, particularly in the areas of food processing and packaging.
