ABSTRACT
After the transcription process, reporter gene products are very simple to assay and make perfect markers to screen efficient transfection and study expression and regulation of specific target genes. This chapter focuses on the three steps involved in designing the reporter gene. The first step involves research on the gene of interest, followed by the second step of choosing an appropriate vector. Finally, the third step is to decide on the secondary features to be added to your vector.
