ABSTRACT

The paper is devoted to the research of the possibility of creating a new complex modifier for bitumen based on epoxy compounds of plant origin. Crude rapeseed oil was used as a raw material for the production of epoxy bitumen modifier. The effect of adding modifiers (epoxidized compounds) on the basis of renewable raw materials with and without initiators-hardeners (adipic and formic acid, maleic anhydride, polyethylene polyamine) on the performance properties of the obtained bitumens, such as penetration, temperature with the surface of gravel and glass, the temperature of fragility according to Fraas, ductility, elasticity, and others, was researched. The design of the optimal composition of asphalt concrete mixtures obtained from bitumens modified with epoxy modifiers on the basis of renewable raw materials is provided in the paper. Samples of asphalt concrete obtained with the use of bitumen modified with epoxides based on crude rapeseed oil were obtained and tested.
