ABSTRACT

Due to the development of technology and increased demand for energy resources, FOWT (Floating Offshore Wind Turbine) that can use vast seas outside of land are being installed and related technologies are being developed. Due to the large size of turbines and the growth of the global wind market, interest in mooring systems for maintaining the location and safe transmission of FOWT is increasing. In this paper, we designed a mooring line for a 12MW FOWT considering extreme marine environmental conditions such as wind, waves, and cur-rents, presented the mooring system design procedure, and analyzed the results of the floating substructure and mooring line dynamic response. Through this, the results of the motion analysis according to the environmental load and the design of the mooring line and the maximum tension acting on the mooring line were confirmed, and the economic evaluation of the mooring system was performed.
