ABSTRACT

Online analysis and evaluation are required in ship structure monitoring and decision support system while traditional structure monitoring can only monitor the state of the structure at the sensor locations, and the rest of the overall hull structure is still unknown. In this paper, a mode superposition based method for the deduction of moment and stress distribution in the entire hull structure from the stresses data at the sensor locations is proposed. The vertical bending moment of the ship structure under different conditions is approximately calculated from the sum of low order vibration modes of the ship structure. The average relative error is used to measure the error of the first lower orders vibration modes in the approximate calculation of the ship structure response, and the accuracy of the method for calculating the stress distribution in the hull structure is analyzed. Based on the analysis of the results obtained for various cases and configuration, some conclusions are drawn.
