ABSTRACT

In the present study, the effects of different loadings, types and materials of fibre reinforced polymers on the stress distributions in uniplanar KT joint reinforced with fibre reinforced polymer are predicted. Finite element models reinforced with different numbers of layers of fibre polymers with different geometrical parameters are produced and investigated. To check the accuracy of the analysis method, the weld size, the meshing approach, and mesh size, the finite element models validated by experimental data. The validated finite element models are utilized to investigate the effects of the fibre reinforced polymers materials and number of layers along with different geometrical parameters on the stress distribution in reinforced uniplanar KT-joints. Results showed that increasing the number of layers, and fibre polymers with different materials will change the stress values. Mechanical properties of FRP layers have more effects on stress distribution in uniplanar KT-joint reinforced with fibre reinforced polymers.
