ABSTRACT

Freshwater contamination and related health issues are a growing concern of the human population due to the extensive reduction and scarcity of freshwater. One of the major reasons for the scarcity is the contamination of water bodies and it is essential to reclaiming the contaminated water resources. Algal-mediated remediation, algal-phytoremediation or phycoremdiation is a good strategy to decontaminate the wastewater due to the duel benefits of this process which is with the decontamination this algal biomass able to utilize for biofuel production. This work focuses on different algal candidates with metal tolerance potential and the mechanisms underlying pycoremediation. This comprehensive study could help to identify effective algae by developing high tolerance in them.
