ABSTRACT

In the construction process of the pipe jacking project of the Yuanhe Tang section of the Chengbei Road Utility Tunnel Project in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, the adaptive selection of the pipe jacking machine is done according to its special geological conditions. The corresponding solutions and key technologies are proposed by analyzing the engineering construction environment and difficulties. Finally, the earth pressure balanced pipe jacking machine is selected and equipped with cutter heads and cutting tools suitable for geological conditions. A kind of crushing device for the blind area of the excavation face is designed, which improves cutting efficiency and softens the soil that has been broken. The designed reversible rectangular pipe jacking iron structure improves construction efficiency and reduces construction costs. This pipe jacking machine selection and design case can provide references for similar projects.
